What is the Flame of Love?

The Flame of Love Movement itself (as movement, specifically set into motion by Our Lady herself) has the Apostolic Blessing of Pope Francis and was encouraged by Pope John Paul II. The movement was set into motion through a relationship that Our Lord and Our Lady enkindled with a humble Hungarian mother of six, Elizabeth Szanto Kindelmann, who suffered tremendously for souls. Elizabeth received messages from Jesus and Mary between 1961 and 1982 about the Flame of Love (the love of Jesus) and recorded them in a diary.

What are the effects of this grace?

Essentially, through this movement, Mary is pouring out graces necessary for our times, a grace specifically for the renewal of the earth through the renewal of families. The messages given to Elizabeth Kindelmann are urgent and emphasize the “same” message as most of the other approved ones from La Salette, Akita, Betania and elsewhere.

What do Our Lord and Lady want us to do?

First ​- Pray, ask and beg for the grace to fast, as you will need graces to be able to offer such sacrifices! You will not be able to do this on your own will. As with all mortifications like fasting, be loving, honest, and wise. It is the Flame of Love and not the Flame of Responsibility. We do not ask what do I have to do but what can I do. If you can fast more, fast more. If you honestly cannot fast as much, do not and offer some other form of sacrifice. For medical reasons, some people should not fast at all. All of the messages Elizabeth recorded in her diary have been approved by her local ordinary, Cardinal Erdo; and her diary has received the imprimatur by numerous bishops in various jurisdictions, including Archbishop Charles Chaput in Philadelphia, the Fountainhead of this Movement in the United States.

Why do we need another devotion? We already have so many!

Many Catholics are already members of prayer groups or are very devoted to certain existing devotions. It can seem overwhelming and maybe even confusing to be faced with all the various apparitions and messages - and the related apostolates created to help spread knowledge of them. It may seem that there’s even competition among the various apostolates, all claiming to be the most important one.

How to Approach Your Pastor about the Flame of Love Grace

1. Most priests have not yet heard of the Movement nor the Grace. Please do not assume that your relationship with your Pastor will permit immediate approval. Pastors have a duty to be prudent, and they will most always want to see all the evidence of church approval. A few will actually decline or defer the decision.

How can I join a Flame of Love Cenacle?

We are all called to spread the effects of grace of Mary’s Flame of Love among your families, friends and parishes. In taking up Her cause, an important requisite is to join a cenacle (meaning “the upper room”). To Elizabeth, the Virgin kept insisting, “Take up my Cause. You cannot rest. Do not be tired. Do not give up. All interested in my Cause must come together.” She kept insisting, “Do this. I am the one who urges you.”

How can I receive the Flame of Love?

At the end of each cenacle, the following prayer is said to help each person receive the Flame of Love. Each person is ideally given a candle that will be lit towards the end.
